세계적 희귀종 고리도롱뇽의 멸종을 막아라!

녹색연합은 2004년 8월 3일 (화) 오전 11시 30분 제일은행 본점 (종각 소재) 앞에서 세계적 희귀종 고리도롱뇽 보호를 위해 원자력발전소 신고리 1, 2호기 공사 재검토를 요구하는 기자회견 및 퍼포먼스를 진행했다. [img:Dscn7578.jpg,align=,width=500,height=350,vspace=0,hspace=0,border=1]


고리도롱뇽은 원전 신고리 1,2호기 건설 예정지인 부산시 기장읍 효암리 일대에서만 서식하는 세계적 희귀종이며, 일반적으로 알려진 도롱뇽과는 별도의 종(種)이다.  만일 원전 신고리 1, 2호기 건설 사업이 진행될 경우 서식처 파괴로 인해 지구상에서 멸종될 위기에 처해지며, 이는 생물종다양성 보존이라는 국제사회의 약속을 어기는 것이다.

본 기자회견에서는 고리도룡뇽의 서식에 대해 언급하지 않은 원전 신고리 1, 2호기 사업에 대한 환경영향평가 재실시 및 8월로 예정되어 있는 사업 착공 재검토를 요구하는 성명 낭독과 퍼포먼스, 질의․응답이 있었다.

Let's Prevent the Extinction of
the Internationally Rare Variety Hynobius yangi!

In response to the Korean government's recent decision to begin construction of two nuclear power plants this month without the proper Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Green Korea United conducted a press interview and performance for the protection of Hynobius yangi, which is a rare variety of salamander, in front of Cheil Bank's headquarters (Jongak, Jongno 1ga) on August 3rd (Tuesday).

Hynobius yangi is an internationally rare variety of salamander, which only lives around Busan Gijang-up Hyo-am Li, where the designated construction site of both Sin Go-ri nuclear power plant 1 and 2 will be located. Hynobius yangi is a unique species from other well-known salamander species. If construction of nuclear generators 1 and 2 continues, Hynobius yangi will become an endangered species in the world because of the destruction of its habitat and the breaking of the international rule of conservation of the diversity of species.

Green Korea United issued a statement to request a more thorough EIA, which previously did not mention Hynobius yangi, and re-investigation of this construction project, which is scheduled to start this month.
